Tomes Of The Chaos Bard Review

Family Friendly Rating: ★★★★★

Release Schedule: Biweekly

Average Run Time: 48 mins

Game System: D&D 5e Group/Cast Size: 5 players one DM Began: feb 12 2021

What Makes it unique: Saulum the self proclaimed Chaos Bard who is constantly meddling with what the players are doing, players which feel more part of the world than characters from any other podcast I've listened to. Plus Original Songs! Story Continuity: The Story is clearly going somewhere but as of yet the direction of the story could be taken in many directions or could fall apart completely, if you prefer to follow a story along as it goes this is a good choice because the currently released episodes are primarily helping us get to know the characters there are some signs of something going on in the background but as of yet the players are not fully drawn whatever this section of plot will end up being. Sound Quality & Quality Improvement: first three episodes have fuzz issues, after that there is some improvement. Music and Sound Effects: There is some amount of music playing at thematic moments when music is in the story, what with Saulum the Chaos Bard however there is very rarely if ever a background music track for their episodes.

Voice Distinctiveness: the voices of the players are not super distinguishable, however the characters voices are easy to distinguish even from the very beginning. Bonus Content: Chaos Chronicles: The Chaos Chronicles involve Saulum interacting with parts of the world that the characters have no chance of Interacting with, these segments purpose is to help expand the listeners knowledge of the world and lore. Saulum's Column: Saulum's Column is a way to make things Interesting that might otherwise seem boring, such as the reading of 5 star reviews, Important announcements and more.

Rules Understanding: Good Enough, when they aren't following a rule they are usually aware and using one of their own rules.

Criticism Space To Improve: Certain aspects of editing are off however as this is only a year in I expect continued improvement in the editing quality of the episodes, in early episodes though sometimes laughter can be louder than talking and make it difficult to hear what is being said.

Social Connectivity Ease of Access: responsive on twitter, and Instagram also recently created a discord. Explanation Of Rating: Tomes of The Chaos bard is one of the podcasts that chose from the very start to be Family Friendly and so has managed to keep from crossing that line.
